Director/producer fills out the role of Troy in ‘Fences’Ron Himes Fences

From the Evansville Courier and Press…

Ron Himes watched “Fences” on Broadway, produced it in St. Louis and directed it in Knoxville, Tenn. After nearly four decades in theater, however, he never expected to play the lead in August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play anywhere.

  1. Hello. My name is Phyllis Montana-Leblanc. I was featured in Spike Lee’s HBO documentary, “When The Levees Broke” and “If God Is Willing And Da Creek Don’t Rise.” I wrote and recited the lead poem, for the latter. I played a primary performer in David Simon’s (The Wire) HBO Drama Series, “TREME” as “Desiree” to Wendell Pierce’s character, “Antoine Batiste.” I completed 28 episodes for the series. I am the published author(Simon and Schuster) of “Not Just The Levees Broke” My Story During and After Hurricane Katrina. Foreword by Spike Lee. My next memoir, currently working on and in editing, “No More Wire Hangers” about teenage domestic abuse is my next goal. I was compared to August Wilson in a story done by a journalist after Hurricane Katrina. Why, I don’t know. I was introduced to August Wilson as a result of this story. Just thought I would drop a line. Why? I don’t know. Peace. One Love. Phyllis Montana-LeBlanc.
